This site loads a single third-party script: the Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon. It counts page views. That is the whole of its job, and it is the only thing on these pages that talks to anyone but this server.
There is no form here, nothing to sign up for, and nothing you can type into. The way in is a plain link to the app, which lives on a different address and is a different piece of software entirely.
The beacon stores no cookie and writes nothing to your browser. It has no identifier for you, so it cannot recognise you on a second visit and it cannot see you on anybody else's site. That is why there is no banner asking your permission for it, and why you should be suspicious of any site that needs one.
Coarse is the point. It is enough to tell whether an essay landed, and not enough to tell one reader from another. Cloudflare also counts requests at the network layer, before any script runs, because the site is served from there.
It does not know who you are. There is no account on this site, nothing to sign in to, and no identifier that survives the page.
It also sees nothing at all of the app. That runs at a different origin, it is not part of this site, and no script here is loaded there. Your messages, your rooms, your calls and your account are on the other side of a boundary the browser enforces. Locked rooms go further than that: their contents are end-to-end encrypted, and the server that hosts them cannot read them either.
Honestly, that is the reason. This is a small site run by one person, and a count of page views is the only way to tell whether writing another page is worth the evening it takes.
An earlier draft of these pages claimed no trackers at all. Adding one quietly and saying nothing would have cost more than the number is worth, so here it is, written down. If a cookie banner ever becomes necessary here, the right response is to remove the analytics, not to add the banner.
